Landscape

On this page you see an overview of the landscapes I have painted.

As you can see, the paintings are drawn and painted in various techniques. I always try to use the technique that gives the painting that special look that I had in mind.

Painting and drawing is always a process of doing a lot, trying out what works and making mistakes. I’ll spare you the big mistakes that necessarily result from this … I either reused them or entrusted them to the wheelie bin. 😉

The different techniques and carriers

The acrylic paintings are painted on a good quality cotton canvas. In case of stretched canvas, I have also painted the outside of the frame, so that it is not necessary to place the painting in a frame. The acrylic paint that I use a lot is from the Amsterdam brand.

The watercolor paint I use is from Schmicke Horadam. I use cups instead of tubes: in high school I learned to work with a box of watercolor cups and after that I never really got used to working with watercolor paint from tubes. I painted the watercolor paintings on 200 to 380 grams watercolor paper and placed them in a passe-partout of acid-free cardboard (possibly in a picture frame).

I also make drawings in colored pencil, pen and ink, conté and oil pastel. The drawings in colored pencil (Faber Castell Polychromos) are drawn on 120 to 250 grams smooth drawing paper, as are the pen drawings. Normally I also place these in a passe-partout of acid-free cardboard and possibly in a picture frame.
